Inspired by movie, Telangana woman murders husband, disfigures boyfriend's face
In a shocking incident, a Telangana woman, along with her paramour, killed her husband. She then poured acid on her boyfriend's face and got it surgically altered to pass him off as her dead husband. She was inspired by the superhit 2014 Telugu film Yevadu. However, her story didn't unfold as planned. She and her lover are now in judicial custody. Here's more.
Swathi committed murder, hoping to pass off lover as husband
Swathi Reddy, a 28-year-old woman from Telangana's Nagarkurnool district, together with her lover Rajesh, murdered her husband Sudhakar Reddy on November 26. They burned his body in a forest. Swathi then disfigured Rajesh's face, who got a plastic surgery done to look like Sudhakar. Hoping that everyone would mistake Rajesh for Sudhakar, Swathi informed Sudhakar's parents that he met with an accident.
Fingerprints, family's suspicion gave the culprits away
However, despite the surgery, Rajesh couldn't convince Sudhakar's parents who found his behavior different and informed the police. Swathi's hopes for a happy ever after with Rajesh dashed completely when his Aadhaar fingerprints didn't match with Sudhakar's and gave him away. The police then launched a full-blown investigation and got the two to confess their involvement in the heinous crime.
Yevadu is not the first film to have inspired crime
Yevadu is a revenge drama in which the hero is given another person's face to save his life. The film stars Allu Arjun, Kajal Aggarwal and Shruti Haasan in lead roles. Yevadu isn't the first film to have lead people towards violent crimes. Several Indian films including Darr, Dhoom, Special 26 and Drishyam have and still continue to inspire in unsuspecting ways.
