Farooq Abdullah: Enemy not across the border but amongst us
National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah observed that the nation's enemy wasn't across the border. Instead, he claimed that they were amongst us, causing divisions. He made an impassioned plea to fight a united battle, ensuring that peace returns to conflict-ridden J&K. Earlier, Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat said political initiatives and military action should go hand-in-hand for peace in the valley.
'War has never been the solution'
While speaking at a seminar 'Bridging the Divide' organized in Jammu, the former J&K CM Abdullah noted that war was not a solution. He lamented that the Kashmir problem has not been resolved because India and Pakistan make it an issue only during elections. He declared that this issue needs to be solved as "any further division of this nation will cause destruction."
Abdullah also praised India and Pakistan for resuming Kashmir talks
Citing India-Pakistan's national security advisers meeting in Bangkok, Abdullah stressed that both countries need to meet and iron out their differences. Apart from this, he also advocated "modernizing madrassas." He asserted that they should teach science and English so that the children can "serve communities."
