#CareerBytes: DU colleges you could get into based on 2017-cutoffs
The University of Delhi offers many undergraduate courses but admission to a majority of them is based on cutoffs, the minimum percentage of marks required. However, DU admissions aren't easy as the cutoffs are exceptionally high. Different courses and colleges have different cutoffs. Here's a list of the DU colleges you could get into based on last year's first cutoffs for all streams.
Science stream: Most sought-after courses and cutoffs for popular colleges
Bachelor of Science programs are among DU's popular courses. Last year, the first cutoff for BSc (Honors) Computer Science was 98% for Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College (STGB), 97.25% for Hansraj College, 97% for Indraprastha College for Women. Another popular course BSc (Hons) Electronics saw a whopping 99.66% cutoff for STGB. It was 96% for Sri Venkateswara/Hansraj/Deen Dayal Upadhyaya/Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma Colleges.
Other science courses at DU and cutoffs
For BSc (Hons) Mathematics, last year, the cutoff was 97.25% for Kirori Mal College, 97% for Hansraj/Hindu/Sri Venkateswara/Ramjas/Shivaji Colleges, 96.75% for Miranda House College, 96.5% for LSR/Gargi/Indraprastha Colleges. BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science saw cutoffs of 96% for Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, 95.33% for Acharya Narendra Dev College. Cutoff for BSc (Hons) Biochemistry was 96.75% for Sri Venkateswara College and 96% for Shivaji/Deshbandhu Colleges.
Commerce stream: Cutoffs for BCom and BCom (Honors) courses
Last year, first list cutoffs for BCom at top DU colleges were 98.25% for Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, 97% for Kirori Mal and Shivaji Colleges, 96.5% for Ramjas and Sri Venkateswara Colleges. For BCom (Honors), cutoffs were 98% for Shivaji College, 97.75% for Shri Ram College of Commerce, 97.25% for Lady Shri Ram College, 97.5% for Hansraj, Hindu, Sri Venkateswara Colleges.
Humanities/Arts stream: BA, BA (Honors), and journalism programs
In 2017, cutoffs for most sought-after BA (Hons) Journalism were 98% for LSR College, 97% for DCAC and Kamala Nehru, 96% for Institute of Home Economics. For the popular BA (Hons) Psychology, LSR set 98.5% cutoff; it was 97.5% for Kamala Nehru/Indraprastha Colleges. Cutoffs for BA (Hons) English were 97.5% for Hindu College, 97% Indraprastha/Gargi Colleges, 96.5% for Kamala Nehru, 96% for Gargi College.
Last year's cutoffs for vocational courses at DU
DU's College of Vocational Studies announced 91.5% cutoff for its popular BA (Voc. Studies) Human Resource Management (HRM). BA (Voc. Studies) in Tourism Management, and Marketing Management and Retail Business saw a 91% cutoff. Others included 89% for BA (Voc. Studies) Management and Marketing of Insurance, 88% for Office Management and Secretarial Practice, 87% for Material Management, 86% for Small and Medium Enterprises.
