West Bengal: Bus falls into canal, 6 dead, 15 injured

What's the story

On Tuesday, a bus fell into a canal in Haripal in Hooghly district of West Bengal which left 6 dead and injured 15.

The accident took place at around 9 AM at Dakatia Khal canal near Gojarmore. The bus was headed to Kolkata, reports said.

Locals and policemen rushed to rescue the victims, and the injured were taken to Haripal Hospital.

Cause of accident and extent of damage unknown

About the accident, a police official said, "The bus overturned and fell into the Dakatiya Khaal (a canal) on Haripal Road this morning. The injured were rushed to the hospital." The extent of damage and cause of the accident is still unknown.
