Similar questions in JEE-Main, Narayana mock-paper? 'False news,' says CBSE
The CBSE has filed a police complaint against a website for publishing and spreading 'false news' about the JEE Main 2018. The website, www.cisthetaglobal.com, had claimed that several questions in the entrance exam had been lifted from a 2016 mock test at the Narayana Coaching Academy. CBSE claimed the "baseless" news was "circulated to damage the image of the board."
The controversial post that "spread rumors"
The JEE Main was held on April 8. Hours later, the website published a report claiming several questions had been lifted directly from the 2016 Narayana model paper. It published purported images of the Narayana question paper too, displaying at least six similar questions. The report says, "We don't ensure you that this stuff is real or fake," urging readers to decide for themselves.
Owner admitted images not verified, but didn't take responsibility: CBSE
The CBSE issued a clarification the same day, saying the questions had been "written only 2-3 months back" and thus "couldn't have figured in any model-paper two years back." Moreover, though the website had admitted they hadn't verified the images, the owner refused to take responsibility, CBSE said. This "callous and irresponsible attitude" had damaged the credibility of CBSE and JEE, it said.
Only 2.24L out of 10.43L candidates to qualify for Advanced
"The spokesperson of Narayana Academy has also informed the CBSE that the images displayed on the website are not of their Coaching Academy," the CBSE added. Following these, it lodged a complaint on April 11. Interestingly, the post on the website still remains live as of 11am today. 10.43L candidates had registered for the Main 2018, of which 2.24L will be shortlisted for Advanced.
