IMD issues heavy rainfall alert for these states
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated regions across Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Certain areas in Delhi, including Narela, Bawana, and Akshardham are also expected to experience light to moderate rainfall. A similar alert has been extended for West Bengal and Sikkim for the upcoming week.
Rainfall predictions for west India and south peninsular region
The IMD has also predicted fairly widespread to widespread rain and light to moderate rain for Konkan and Goa during the week. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely in these regions. Meanwhile, South Peninsular India is expected to receive below normal to normal rainfall over the week with isolated heavy rainfall predicted for Kerala and Mahe during September 28-30, South Interior Karnataka on September 29, and Coastal Karnataka on September 30.
Heavy rainfall alert for east and northeast India
In East and Northeast India, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday. These regions are also expected to receive heavy rainfall from Saturday. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Assam and Meghalaya, while isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Jharkhand on Friday; Bihar on Saturday; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from Monday.
Northwest India braces for heavy rainfall
The IMD has also predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall for Himachal Pradesh on Friday. A very heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Uttarakhand on Saturday. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Himachal Pradesh, in Uttarakhand till Friday, in East Uttar Pradesh from till Sunday, and in West Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
