Huge cache of arms seized from Dera headquarters in Sirsa
Information has come in that police have seized a huge cache of arms from the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Haryana's Sirsa. Soon after Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's sentencing, authorities had rescued 18 minor girls from the headquarters. Thirty-four boys were also taken out, police said. The army, paramilitary forces and police were deployed across the city as a precautionary measure.
Cops stand with their recovery
Police had taken urgent steps after the Panchkula violence
After it emerged that Ram Rahim's followers had planned the Panchkula riots in advance and had come equipped with arms, police had taken steps to vacate the Sirsa headquarters to prevent similar outbreaks. District authorities had sent over 650 Dera members to their respective destinations. There were reportedly 250-300 members left in the new Dera ashram as of August 29.
Meanwhile, after a week, Ram Rahim getting used to prison
It's been a week since Ram Rahim Singh entered prison, and the 'godman', who lived life lavishly, is just starting to get used to the new conditions. He is to start working as a gardener in jail for Rs. 40 a day. He spent days pacing his 8x8 cell, talking to walls, and mostly staying quiet. He has already complained of various medical problems.
Police aren't taking risks with his security
One thing cops aren't compromising with is Ram Rahim's security. When he is taken out of his cell, all other inmates are sent inside theirs. After his request to have his adopted daughter Honeypreet in jail as an attendant, he has been assigned two old convicts as helpers. His requested visitors' list contains 10 names, including Honeypreet (who is currently missing) and his mother.
