West Bengal: Man arrested for selling two-month-old twin daughters
In a shameful incident, a man was arrested yesterday for allegedly selling off his twin daughters to two childless couples in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. Ratan Brahma (38) of Bahaduria village had allegedly sold his daughters to a rice trader for Rs. 1L and to a couple of Ramchandrapur village for Rs. 80,000. Brahma and his wife also have a 10-year-old daughter.
Both the girls have been rescued, kept in health center
The police arrested Brahma yesterday night and rescued one of the twins from the trader's house at Thakurnagar area. The second baby was recovered too. The twins have been kept at Chandpara Health Center and would be produced before the child welfare committee on Monday.
