'Wants to convert...': Principal expels 5-year-old for bringing non-veg food
A five-year-old student at Hilton Convent School in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, was expelled by the principal for allegedly bringing non-vegetarian food to class. A video of a heated exchange between the school principal and the student's mother has gone viral on social media. The incident has prompted officials to order an investigation into the matter.
Viral video sparks controversy and investigation
In the viral video, the principal can be heard accusing the student of continuously bringing non-vegetarian food to school. He also alleged that the student expressed a desire to convert everyone to Islam by making them eat non-vegetarian food and wanted to destroy Hindu temples. The mother countered these allegations, stating her child had been complaining about religious discrimination in his class for three months.
Principal's response and mother's counter-allegations
The principal responded to the mother's claims by accusing her of teaching these ideas to her son. He also stated that the student had been expelled and his name removed from the school register due to complaints from other parents. The mother alleged that another student had been bullying her son, but the principal dismissed this as an attempt to "mislead" the school with counter-allegations.
Muslim committee demands action, investigation underway
Following the incident, Amrohi's Muslim Committee wrote to the district magistrate demanding the principal's arrest and suspension of the school's affiliation. The Basic Education Officer of Amroha has formed a team comprising principals from three government schools to investigate this matter. They have been directed to submit their report within three days. The District Inspector of Schools (DIS) has also initiated an inquiry into this incident with a three-member committee assigned for further action.
