Delhi man kills mother for 'not approving' move to Canada
A 50-year-old woman was fatally stabbed by her son in southeast Delhi's Molarband village. The incident took place on the evening of November 6. The accused, identified as Krishan Kant, allegedly killed his mother, Geeta, after she opposed his plans to move to Canada. After the attack, Krishan called his father Surjeet Singh and asked him to return home. On arrival, Krishan said "sorry" and asked him to go upstairs, when he found Geeta lying in a pool of blood.
Accused arrested, reveals motive behind murder
Krishan had fled the scene by the time his father found Geeta's body, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravi Kumar Singh said. He was arrested later from the same area. A murder case has been registered against him. During police interrogation, Krishan revealed he wanted to migrate to Canada but his family opposed it. His mother wanted him to marry first, hoping it would stabilize his life. Krishan also believed Geeta was practicing black magic to prevent him from moving abroad.
Family background and circumstances of the crime
The family consists of Surjeet, who deals in properties, Krishan, and their younger son Sahil Bholi, who works in a bank. Only Geeta and Krishan were home when the incident took place. Police believe an argument over marriage plans turned violent. It was found that Krishan had bought the knife used in the attack days before the murder.
