    What's the story

On Monday, a police inspector was killed in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district after violence broke out in the aftermath of an alleged case of cow slaughter.

The violence took place when police arrived at the spot of protest on the Bulandshahr-Syana road and tried to placate the protesters.

However, the protesters attacked the police.

Reportedly, the situation has been contained now.

    Here's more.

    Clashes

Bajrang Dal, Hindu Yuva Vahini members attacked the police

Reportedly, members of several Hindu groups, including Hindu Yuva Vahini and the Bajrang Dal, had gathered at the Bulandshahr-Syana road with an alleged cow carcass to protest.

When police arrived at the spot, the protesters reportedly pelted stones and even fired guns at the police, prompting police to open fire at them.

The protesters, reportedly, also torched several passing vehicles.

    Death

Inspector Subodh Singh was injured, and died later

In the ensuing chaos, Inspector Subodh Singh of the Syana police station was attacked with a blunt object.

The attack left Singh bleeding profusely. Subsequently, he was rushed to the Aurangabad community health center (CHC), where he was declared dead on arrival.

Four other police constables were also injured in the violent clashes.
