Jackal attacks 2 men in Madhya Pradesh; they fight back
Two men were attacked by a jackal in the Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday evening. The incident, which took place in Sagonia Panchayat, Rehti tehsil, was captured on CCTV footage. It shows the jackal lunging at Shyam Yadav and Narmada Prasad while they were sitting by the roadside. Despite their attempts to scare it off with stones, the animal persisted until one man managed to throw it about 15 feet away.
Victims hospitalized, locals advised to exercise caution
The victims, Yadav and Prasad, are currently receiving treatment at the Narmadapuram District Hospital. In response to these attacks, local authorities have advised residents to be vigilant and avoid venturing out alone. Village panchayat assistant secretary Ramkrishna Uike stated that they have asked villagers "to stay away from jackals and travel in groups." He also confirmed that the forest department has been notified about the incident.
Forest department alerted, compensation assured for victims
The forest department has been informed about the incident, and Ranger Harish Maheshwari visited the injured victims to ensure they receive compensation. The recent jackal attacks have left villagers feeling uneasy. Many now carry sticks when leaving their homes as a precautionary measure against potential attacks. The dense forest surrounding Sagonia Panchayat provides a potential hiding spot for the jackal, which remains at large.
