What's the story
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh's son, Karan Bhushan Singh, confirmed on Thursday that the vehicle involved in a fatal accident in Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh was part of his convoy.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, resulted in the deaths of two individuals and the injury of a woman.
The Toyota Fortuner was reportedly the last of four vehicles in Singh's convoy.

Singh stated that he was informed about the accident much later and was not present at the scene when it occurred.
He claimed to be approximately 4-5 km away from the incident, en route to Bhairach for a program.
The BJP Lok Sabha candidate also insisted that his Toyota Fortuner did not hit the woman who was crossing the road.

Details of the victims and accident aftermath
The two victims were identified as Rehan, 17, and Shehzad, 24, both cousins who were on a motorcycle when they were hit by the SUV.
"Both Rehan and Shehzad were run over by the car and died on the spot. The vehicle also lost control and further hit a 60-year-old woman, who was walking on the roadside," Karnal Ganj station house officer (SHO) Nirbhay Narayan Singh said.
The woman has been admitted to a hospital and is undergoing treatment.

The driver of the Fortuner, Lavkush Srivastav (30), has been arrested and the vehicle impounded.
At the time of the accident, there was no confirmation on whether Karan, who is the BJP's candidate from the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat, was traveling with the cavalcade.
The BJP nominated Karan for the Kaiserganj seat amid sexual harassment against his father by multiple women wrestlers.
Notably, Brij Bhushan has won the Kaiserganj seat three times.
