Sania Mirza-Veena Malik get into ugly Twitter spat: Details here
Pakistani actress Veena Malik and Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza engaged in a war of words on Twitter yesterday, with each raising questions about the other's parenting. While Veena criticized Sania for allegedly taking her boy to a shisha (hookah) lounge in Manchester, the latter retorted that the actress' "not-so-decent" magazine cover photo is also "hazardous" for children. Here is what had happened.
Sania lashes out at a Twitter user for privacy infringement
Veena, probably hurt after Pakistan's humiliating defeat against India in the ongoing World Cup, was reacting to one of Sania's tweets. In her tweet, the 32-year-old athlete lashed out at another Twitter user for uploading a video "without asking us, disrespecting our privacy," that showed her partying with husband Shoaib Malik, and his teammates Imad Wasim and Wahab Riaz, allegedly on Ind-Pak match eve.
The tweet by Veena that left Sania fuming
Sania also mentioned that the video was taken "even though we had a child with us," and that's what probably sparked off Veena. The 35-year-old actress said, "Sania, I am actually so worried for the kid. You guys took him to a sheesha place isn't it Hazardious? (sic)" Not one to stay silent, Sania responded, curtly asking Veena to mind her own business.
Have not taken my kid to a sheesha place: Sania
"Veena,I hav not taken my kid to a sheesha place. Not that it's any of your or the rest of the world's business cause I think I care bout my son a lot more than anyone else does," Sania said in her tweet. Not just that, Veena also highlighted how junk food "isn't good for athletes/Boys," and that Sania should have known it.
Veena is "so worried" for Sania's kid, latter replies
"Not Pakistan cricket team's dietician nor am I their mother"
To this, Sania said, "I am not Pakistan cricket team's dietician nor am I their mother or principal or teacher To know when they sleep, wake up and eat." The tennis player signed off saying, "thank you for your concern though .. means a lot." Right after then, she announced that she was taking a break from Twitter as it "cracks me up."
While Sania chose silence, Veena decided to continue the clash
However, Veena chose to continue the clash and posted a series of tweets. At first, she said, "Great to hear that u didn't took ur kid their," then she clarified that she didn't call Sania Pakistan team's "dietician or mother." "I said u are an athlete and u must know how much fitness is important. Also aren't u a wife of cricketer?," she asked.
Sania tweets, deletes the tweet, blocks me, Veena claims
Further, Veena claimed that Sania questioned her parenting as well in a tweet, where the latter expressed worry about how her "not-so-decent" magazine cover may be "hazardous" to the actress' kids. Veena also posted screenshots of the same to prove her point. "First, she tweeted then deleted that tweet right away and blocked me," Veena said, while thanking Sania for "showing your true colors!"
Veena claims her magazine cover photo was "morphed image"
Veena also clarified that the magazine cover photo "was morphed image," and that she has told this "1000 times." She also said that, "They think I'm an easy pick, Let me tell u that's nt happening I'll always bounce back. Our society needs to have acceptance."
PCB, Shoaib Malik clarify video was dated June 13
Now back to the video that started the whole fiasco, both the Pakistan Cricket Board and Shoaib have clarified that it was dated June 13, not 15th, the eve of the crucial clash. Shoaib also said "it's sad" that he still has "to clarify things related to my personal life," despite serving "my country for +20 years in Intl Cricket."
Maintain respect in regards to our families, Shoaib requests media
The 37-year-old former Pakistani captain further requested media "to maintain respect levels in regards to our families, who shouldn't be dragged into petty discussions at will. It's not a nice thing to do." Ever since Sania and Shoaib got married in 2010, they have been under constant scrutiny of media, who leave no chance to blame either of them when Pakistan loses to India.
