Vaccinations for 18-44 group across UP from June 1
The vaccination of people in the 18-44 age group against the deadly COVID-19 will be expanded to all district headquarters in Uttar Pradesh from June 1, a state government spokesperson said on Sunday. "Currently, people belonging to the 18-44 age group are being inoculated in only 23 of the state's 75 districts," the spokesperson further said.
Inoculations in seven districts began on May 1
"Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that vaccination for the 18-44 age group should begin from June 1," he said. "Inoculation of beneficiaries in this age group began on May 1 in Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Meerut, and Bareilly," he added. "On May 10, the vaccination drive was expanded to 17 district headquarters having municipal corporations and Gautam Buddh Nagar district," he said.
CM appealed to those eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19
"In the third phase, the number of districts was increased to 23," the spokesperson added. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister on Sunday appealed to those eligible to get inoculated, saying vaccination is a safeguard against COVID-19.
'Test, trace, treat' strategy has helped tackle the situation: Adityanath
Adityanath, who visited Jhansi and Chitrakoot, said the test, trace, and treat strategy has helped in tackling the situation in the state. The Chief Minister reviewed the arrangements of COVID-19 management in the Chitrakoot division and inspected Badokhar Khurd village, according to a statement. After the inspection, he held a meeting with officials and public representatives in the Government Medical College.
Active cases in UP have dropped to around 84,800: CM
He also visited the COVID-19 Command Center in Chitrakoot and reviewed the work. Adityanath said, "Over 300 new oxygen plants are being set up in the state, of which nine will be in the Chitrakoot division." "As a result of the stringent testing mechanism in the rural pockets, active cases in the state have dropped down to around 84,800," the Chief Minister said.
Over 1.62 crore vaccine doses have been administered in UP
He said community kitchens are providing two meals per day to every needy person in all the districts and the state government is working to provide an allowance of Rs. 1,000 per month to daily wagers in the urban areas. Meanwhile, over 1.62 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in Uttar Pradesh till Saturday, according to officials.
