Uttarakhand: Man caught sexually assaulting cow, communal tension escalates
The situation became tense in Uttarakhand's Pauri Garhwal district in Satpuli town after a man was arrested for sexually assaulting a calf. As protests erupted in the town, an FIR was lodged at the police station by an eyewitness named Baleshwar. The accused has been booked under Section 377 of IPC for unnatural sex and will be produced in Lansdowne court today.
Police keeps vigil to avoid untoward incident
As communal tension gripped the small Satpuli town, police officials tightened the security. Pauri SSP, Jagatram Joshi said additional forces along with Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) was called to take stock of the escalating situation. As informed by the police officials, a team of veterinarians also came and collected samples for forensic examination.
Uttarakhand in chaos over communal tension?
This is the second instance of communal tension gripping the state within a month's time. On July 9, a 16-year-old Muslim boy was arrested after he allegedly posted offensive pictures of the Kedarnath shrine on Facebook. The boy was later sent to a juvenile home.
Sex with cow, not the first time!
Incidentally, this isn't the first unnatural sex case which has been reported. Last month, a man from Kopergaon in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra was arrested for having sex with a cow. In another incident, police had arrested a man for sexually assaulting a cow in MP's Bairagarh area. Moreover, in Uttarakhand itself, a case of cow sexual assault was reported this March.
