Uttarakhand: Widowed teacher argues over transfer, CM orders her arrest
Displaying his utter insensitivity and arrogance, Uttarakhand CM, Trivendra Singh Rawat ordered the arrest of a teacher who complained about her transfer in a 'Janta Darbar' on June 28. The clip showing Rawat's anger has surfaced online. It should be noted Rawat's order wasn't vague and the teacher, identified as Uttara Bahuguna, was indeed arrested and released on bail, hours later. Here's more.
Bahuguna met CM to request for an easier posting
Primary teacher, Bahuguna, has been working in Uttarkashi for the last 25 years. She attended the gathering hoping CM would transfer her to Dehradun, where her kids lived. After he didn't entertain her demands, Bahuguna started yelling at the CM. Losing his cool, Rawat said, "Suspend her immediately. Arrest her." The teacher then hurled abuses at Rawat. She was arrested for 'disrupting an important gathering'.
I spoke to CM but he didn't do anything: Bahuguna
"I lost my husband in 2015. I can't leave my children. I spoke to the Chief Minister but he did nothing. I asked him the reason. He suddenly raised his hand and said you are a teacher, behave yourself," a crying Bahuguna said.

CM's anger draw flak, he defends his act
After the incident, Rawat naturally received flak. His predecessor Harish Singh Rawat asked for Bahuguna's suspension to be revoked. "A widowed teacher remained posted in a remote area for 25 years and no one listened to her?" the Congress leader said. Meanwhile, Rawat defended himself saying the teacher was suspended for abusing at the gathering. He added transfer orders would be looked into.
