Uttarakhand: School bus fell into gorge, nine feared dead
In a tragic incident, nine children reportedly died after the bus they were traveling in fell into a gorge in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. The bus was reportedly carrying 18 children. The bus dived into the gorge in Kangsali of Tehri Garhwal area of the state. A team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot for rescue operations. Here are more details.
Kids aged between 4 and 13 years lost their lives
Reportedly, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which was on its way to Angels International School. The children belonged to Kangsali village and were aged between 4 and 13 years. Initially, IG Garhwal Range Ajay Rautela said eight kids died, but later one succumbed to injuries. District Magistrate V Shanmugam said students who suffered serious injuries were brought to the district hospital.

Separately, five died in another accident in Uttarakhand
Meanwhile, another accident, in which five people died, was also reported from the state. The accident took place on Badrinath Highway when a boulder fell on a bus, carrying passengers. Several people are reportedly trapped and rescue operation is underway.
Last month, two died after bus fell into gorge
To note, the bus accident comes weeks after another bus met with a similar fate. In July, a bus fell into a gorge near Kabra village in the state. Two people died and at least 16 were injured in the accident. Before that, one person died and nine suffered injuries after the car they were traveling in met with an accident in Chamoli district.
