UP: New Farakka Express derails near Rae Bareli, five dead
On Wednesday morning, five coaches, and the engine, of Delhi bound New Farakka Express derailed near Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, killing 5. Among the dead is one woman and a child, reports said. Train may have been diverted to wrong track
Railway sources believe the accident may have taken place after the train was diverted to a wrong track. NDRF teams from Varanasi and Lucknow have rushed to the spot and all up and down lines on the route have been blocked. At the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya junction, Mughalsarai, helpline numbers have been set up. Officials fear the number of casualties may rise.

The train was expected to reach New Delhi a little after 2:30 PM today. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and directed authorities to take necessary actions. Reportedly, District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police are present at the spot, and Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani is expected to reach the accident site soon.
