UP man dies after eating 41 eggs in bizarre challenge
A 42-year-old man died while doing a bizarre challenge in the Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The deceased, identified as Subhash Yadav, set out to eat 50 eggs in one sitting after placing a bet with his friend, the police said on Monday. During the challenge, Yadav suddenly collapsed and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Here are more details.
Yadav fell unconscious after eating 41 eggs
According to The Pioneer, Yadav, a resident of Argupur Kala, went to Jaunpur's Bibiganj market to eat eggs. He got into an argument with a friend and decided to take the challenge of eating 50 eggs and gulping a bottle of liquor. The winner would take Rs. 2,000 in the bet. However, as Yadav picked up his 42nd egg, he collapsed and fell unconscious.
Yadav died from overeating, doctors confirmed
Reportedly, locals rushed Yadav to the district hospital where he was referred to the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow. Unfortunately, Yadav died hours later on Sunday night. Doctors confirmed that he died from overeating. His family did not comment on his death. Yadav had four daughters from his first wife and his second wife is now pregnant.
Bizarre eating challenges claimed other lives in past
Earlier in August, a 41-year-old man, Dana Hutchings, died during a taco-eating contest in Fresno, California, United States. An onlooker said Hutchings was "shoving the tacos down his mouth without chewing." In July, a Chinese vlogger, identified only by his surname Sun, died in his Hefei apartment during a live-stream eating challenge where he ate poisonous insects and geckos.
