Promised youth using 'time-machine,' UP couple dupes elderly of ₹35cr
A search is underway for a couple from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who allegedly scammed dozens of elderly people out of ₹35 crore by promising to restore their youth with an "Israel-made time machine." Rajeev Kumar Dubey and his wife, Rashmi Dubey, operated this elaborate scheme from their "therapy center" known as Revival World in the Kidwai Nagar area.
Couple's scam centered on 'oxygen therapy' and rapid aging
According to the Times of India, the Dubeys lured their victims with the claim that they had imported a "time machine" from Israel. This machine, they alleged, could turn them into 25-year-olds through oxygen therapy. They convinced unsuspecting seniors that excessive air pollution was causing them to age faster and that their oxygen therapy could reverse this process within months.
Victims reveal details of the scam, police investigation underway
Senior police official Anjali Vishwakarma revealed that the couple offered packages at ₹6,000 for 10 sessions and ₹90,000 for a three-year reward system. One of the victims, Renu Singh Chandel, claimed she was cheated out of ₹10.75 lakh by the Dubeys. Chandel also alleged that the couple's operation resembled a pyramid scheme where customers were incentivized to bring others along for free sessions.
Police estimate 25 couples victimized, launch nationwide search
Police estimate that around 25 couples have been victimized in this scam. The Dubeys are currently on the run, with suspicions that they may have left the country. A nationwide search has been initiated to locate them, and airports across India have been put on high alert to prevent their escape.
