14 coaches of Utkal Express derailed in Muzaffarnagar; 23 dead
Death toll in the Utkal Express derailment rose to 23 even as over 70 people were reported injured. The mishap happened when 14 coaches of the Puri-Haridwar train derailed near UP's Muzaffarnagar. Not only passengers, it has been a nightmare for the locals of Khatauli area whose houses were splattered with blood and neighborhood with bodies. Sources said it happened due to staff negligence.

Railway helpline numbers have been setup
Additional Director General of Police (Railways) VK Maurya said nearly 10 coaches have derailed. The Railways issued two helpline numbers for inquiry: 9760534054 and 9760535051. Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu is personally monitoring the situation; PM Narendra Modi has also been informed about the same. UP CM Yogi Adityanath is also enquiring about the train accident and has rushed all possible help.
