JEE Main: Tips to help you in last-minute preparations
Over 10L students across India are busy preparing for the JEE Main in April, just over two weeks away. Only the top 2.24L students will be chosen for the next round - the Advanced. To be among those, you need to efficiently handle the ongoing board exams as well as preparations for the Main. Following these steps can help you arrange studies better.
This is how the paper is expected to look like
The CBSE, the organizing body, has assured the difficulty level this year will be similar to that of the last few years. The prevailing trend is 30 questions from each subject. In Math, focus on calculus and algebra. Electromagnetism and mechanics are especially important in Physics. And expect many questions from Physical and Organic Chemistry. Ideally, you should have covered the syllabus by now.
Some question types might be new, but not hard
Some questions might be unfamiliar, but going by trends, shouldn't be hard. Be prepared for questions with more than four options, 'match the following' and 'statement-assertion' type questions, and some time-consuming ones needing lengthy calculations.
Tips to follow during the last days of revisions
Prepare and follow a systematic revision schedule keeping optimum time management in mind. Spend more time on topics you find difficult and solve previous years' question papers within prescribed duration. One key aspect is mock tests. Attempt as many as possible so you have an idea of your competencies and time required for each subject. They will also help clear concepts.
During the three hours of exams, keep these in mind
In the exam, attempt theoretical/fact-based questions before those needing calculations. Avoid lengthy numerical problems in the initial half-hour. By first answering questions you know confidently, you can keep morale high and retain positive energy. A smart strategy could be not giving an hour to each subject in the three-hour paper; instead, spend 45-minutes on each and use the remaining time to attempt unsolved questions.
