UPSC topper used Google and YouTube for civils preparation
UPSC topper Anudeep Durishetty from Hyderabad has revealed the unusual secret behind his success - Google and YouTube. Durishetty said that instead of taking coaching classes, he spent hours on the internet to prepare for the exams. Further, he said he opted for Telangana cadre to 'serve his native state'. Notably, UPSC candidates from Telangana fared pretty well this time round. Here's more.
YouTube is the 'best tutor', says UPSC topper
"It's not necessary that one enrols with a coaching institute. These days everything is available online and all one needs is the zeal and motivation to crack the test. There are many websites...if someone has a doubt, YouTube is the best tutor," said Durishetty.
A brief background on Anudeep
2017 was the fifth and the final attempt for the 28-year-old Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer. A native of Metpalli town in Telangana's Jagitial district, Anudeep attended the local Sri Suryodaya High School. He then studied B Tech (Electronics & Instrumentation) at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and worked at Google Hyderabad as a software engineer.
Durishetty proud to work for Telangana
"This [Telangana] is the place where I was born and brought up and working here and making a difference with my work would be an honour. However, no matter where I am posted, improving health and education will be my top priorities," added Durishetty.
Telangana candidates bagged impressive ranks
Durishetty apart, this year's UPSC results saw many candidates from Telangana bag impressive ranks. While most of them thanked their parents and their family for their success, families in turn lauded their individual efforts. 9.5 lakh candidates took the UPSC preliminary exams in 2017. Ultimately, UPSC recommended 990 candidates for appointments.
