Vasco Da Gama-Patna express derails: 3 dead and 9 injured
In yet another terrifying instance of derailment, 13 coaches of the Vasco Da Gama-Patna express went off track near Banda in Uttar Pradesh. At least 3 people died and 9 others are injured. The incident occurred less than 12 hours after a Bolero crashed into a passenger train in Amethi, killing at least 4 passengers. Here's more on what happened.
What happened?
According to ground reports, the incident occurred around 4:18 am in the morning. UP ADG (law and order) states that as per primary assessments, the derailment had been caused by fractured rail tracks. The injured were soon rushed to the hospital and a medical train got to the spot right away. An accident relief was also reportedly dispatched around 5:20 am.
Authorities continue to monitor relief operations.
While divisional railway manager (DRM), Allahabad is already on the ground, General Manager, NCR is reportedly on his way. According to North Central Railway PRO Amit Malviya, relief operations are also under way.
