UP teacher thrashes student, breaks leg; gives ₹200 for treatment

A private school teacher in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district has been arrested for assaulting a 10-year-old student.
The incident took place on Saturday when the student couldn't answer a question.
The teacher, identified as Harshit Tiwari, allegedly hurled casteist slurs and then beat the boy.
During the assault, Tiwari reportedly sat on the student, leading the boy to lose his balance and suffer a leg fracture.

The child also reported facing hearing difficulties after the incident, later corroborated by a medical examination.
Upon learning about the assault, his parents took him to a hospital.
Doctors at the hospital confirmed that the boy had suffered a leg fracture and was facing hearing impairment as a result of Tiwari's assault.
Legal action
Teacher offers meager compensation, mother files complaint
When the Class 3 student's mother confronted Tiwari over her son's injuries, he offered a paltry ₹200 for treatment.
Not convinced by his offer and worried for her child's health, she lodged a complaint against him on Sunday.
Based on the complaint, local police have registered a case against Tiwari under Section 151 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
