UP: Stalker chops off 15-year-old's hands with a sword
In a shocking incident, a man in UP's Lakhimpur Kheri attacked a 15-year-old girl with a sword for rejecting his advances and severed one of her arms. He was hacking at her other hand when a crowd overpowered him. He has been arrested. The girl was rushed to hospital, but was shifted to Lucknow as her condition deteriorated drastically.
What happened?
The Class IX student was allegedly being stalked by the man, a neighbor, since some days. Yesterday, she met him at a market in Fatehpur Saidri and again rebuffed him. The angry man, who works at a welding shop, grabbed a sword from there, chased her, pinned her down to the ground and attacked her. The public managed to stop him.
Several disturbing attacks on women in UP in recent times
UP has seen some alarming attacks on women recently. A minor in Ballia was stabbed to death by her stalker when she was on her way to school. In another case, two sisters in Bareilly died after being set ablaze by their stalkers when they were asleep at home. Both have been arrested. This raises questions on the Adityanath government's commitment to women's safety.
