UP: Shamli DM transferred over discrepancies in by-poll vote counting
Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) MP, Tabassum Hasan, today welcomed the Election Commission's decision to transfer Shamli (UP) District Magistrate, Inder Vikram Singh, over charges of irregularities during the counting of votes in Kairana by-polls. Speaking to reporters in Muzaffarnagar, she noted that RLD had filed a complaint with the poll body after she found discrepancies in the margin of votes polled in her favor.
Akhilesh Kumar is the new District Magistrate of Shamli
On November-13, Akhilesh Kumar replaced Singh and took charge as the new DM. The Kairana by-polls, held in May, witnessed a close battle between Mriganka Singh (BJP) and Hassan, with the latter registering a comfortable win, as she had the support of many opposition parties.
