UP: Monkey troop thwarts man's attempt to rape 6-year-old girl
In a remarkable turn of events, a troop of monkeys purportedly intervened to prevent the attempted rape of a six-year-old girl in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on September 20 in Daula village. The young victim, a UKG student, later recounted her ordeal to her parents, crediting the monkeys with having "saved" her. "My daughter would have been dead by now if the monkeys had not intervened," her father said.
Details emerge of accused's actions prior to monkey intervention
According to police, the accused is a resident of another village. He spotted the girl playing outside her house and persuaded her to accompany him. The man first led her to a street near a religious building before taking her to the abandoned house where he attempted the assault. The girl reported that he threatened to kill her and her family if she resisted his advances.
Accused fled scene due to monkey intervention
Before the alleged assault occurred, a few monkeys aggressively rushed toward him, forcing him to abandon his devious plan. The girl then managed to escape and ran home. Her family promptly reported the matter to the local police station. The accused can be seen in CCTV footage walking with his daughter, but he has yet to be identified. The police have since launched a manhunt for him.
Police investigating incident, FIR registered
Baghpat circle officer Harish Bhadoria confirmed that the police are investigating the incident. Following the parents' complaint, an FIR was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 76 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) and the POCSO Act.
