Uttar Pradesh man funds heinous crime with bank loan
What's the story
In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old woman from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh was brutally gang-raped, murdered, and set on fire.
The woman's brother-in-law, Ashish, along with two accomplices, reportedly financed the crime using a ₹40,000 bank loan.
The victim went missing on January 21 and her charred remains were discovered in a nearby forest last Friday.

Ashish was arrested on Saturday after an FIR was registered under sections of murder and gang-rape. However, his two accomplices are still at large.
Muzaffarnagar SP (rural) Aditya Bansal disclosed that Ashish had been in an illicit relationship with the victim for two years and feared exposure due to blackmail involving private photos and videos.

According to Bansal, Ashish conspired with his associates, Shubham and Deepak, to execute the crime.
"He took a ₹40,000 loan from a bank - paid the men ₹10,000 in advance and promised ₹20,000 after the crime," said Bansal.
"The woman was last seen on Jan 21, reportedly on a scooter with her brother-in-law," he said.

The perpetrators first gang-raped the victim, then strangled her with her scarf before burning her body with petrol to destroy evidence.
Police found intact undergarments and two condom packets at the scene, even though her other clothes were burnt, raising suspicions of sexual assault.
Ashish has confessed to the crime according to police reports.
