UP: Man bludgeons wife, throws children from roof before suicide
A man in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh allegedly killed his whole family before taking his own life on Saturday. The horrifying event took place in Palhapur village of Rampur Mathura, approximately 90km from Lucknow. The man has been identified as Anurag Singh, a 42-year-old reportedly struggling with drug addiction and mental health issues. According to the police, Anurag often fought with his family, as they wanted to send him to a de-addiction center.
Family dispute leads to tragic end
On the day of the incident, an argument broke out when the family reiterated their demand for his rehabilitation. This dispute escalated tragically, leading Singh to commit the heinous act. He shot his mother, Savitri, 65, and then bludgeoned his wife, Priyanka, 40, with a hammer. He then flung his three children, ages 12, 9, and 6, from the roof of their home, killing all three.
Investigation underway in Uttar Pradesh murder-suicide
Following the incident, senior police officer Chakresh Mishra stated, "The police and forensic teams are investigating all aspects of the case. A case will be filed after a detailed investigation is complete." As part of the ongoing investigation, a heavy police force has been deployed in the area while forensic teams continue to collect evidence. All the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
