UP: Kidnapped three-year-old girl rescued from Punjab
What's the story
A three-year-old girl, who was kidnapped from a locality in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, was rescued from Punjab's Jalandhar, police said on Saturday.
"The girl's aunt and her boyfriend were arrested in this connection," they added.
"Girl's aunt Nishu Dwivedi (20) had kidnapped the child on Tuesday and went to her boyfriend who was living in Jalandhar, Punjab," Superintendent of Police, Fatehpur, Satpal Antil said.

"A police surveillance team reached Jalandhar on Friday and safely rescued the kidnapped girl," Antil said. "Her aunt Nishu and her boyfriend Navdeep Singh alias Ginni (25) were arrested," he added.

Nishu ran away from the house to marry her boyfriend
"During interrogation, Nishu told police that she had run away from the house to marry her boyfriend," the SP said.
"Nishu had taken the child along with her so that both she and her boyfriend could stay in a hotel as husband and wife without inviting any attention," Antil further added.

"Nishu said she had no intention to harm the child," Antil added. The girl has been handed over to her family members.
"Both Nishu and Navdeep will be produced in the court on Saturday," the SP further added.
"The girl's father works as an assistant teacher," the police further informed.

Last year, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had alleged that kidnapping cases were increasing at an alarming rate in the state.
Another report by National Herald said that women played a key role in UP's two high-profile kidnapping cases that took place last year.
