Eight persons were arrested as police busted a gang of highway robbers in Muzaffarnagar, UP.
Rs. 5 lakh cash and goods were seized from their possession, police said.
The gang was busted yesterday, they said, adding its members confessed to having looted people on highways in Muzaffarnagar, Rampur, Moradabad, Hapur, Basti, Bijnor, Meerut and also in different places in Haryana, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.

Gang busted after police learned about HUL consignment truck loot
Apart from the cash, 335 cartons of cosmetics looted from Ghaziabad and Noida, a car, and four pistols were also found in the possession of the accused, SP (Muzaffarnagar) Ombir Singh said.
The gang came on the police radar after a truck loaded with consignments of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) was looted by them at Muzaffarnagar two weeks ago.
