'Manage BJP leaders or face encounter': UP-cop purportedly threatens criminal
Suneet Kumar Singh, SHO Mauranipur police station, Jhansi, was suspended after his alleged conversation with wanted criminal Lekhraj Yadav discussing the latter's impending encounter went viral. In the undated clip, Singh is purportedly heard telling Yadav to "manage" BJP leaders if he wanted to save himself. The clip has now been sent for forensic examination. SSP Jhansi Vinod Kumar Singh has ordered a probe.
In conversation, SHO warns Yadav of "season of encounter"
In the eight-minute long clip, the SHO talks about 'season of encounters'. "Your mobile number is under surveillance and you will be killed soon. Now there is a system... top officers, special forces and almost everybody from top to bottom is on it," he reportedly says.
'Manage BJP leaders to save yourself', SHO tells criminal
Singh also told the proclaimed history-sheeter to strike a deal with BJP District President Sanjay Dubey and Babina MLA Rajiv Singh Paricha if he wanted to save himself. Lekhraj recorded the conversation after hearing rumors of his planned encounter. On Friday evening, when he 'escaped' an encounter, he posted the clip on social media. Yadav is accused in many murder, kidnapping and extortion cases.
BJP leader distances himself from conversation
Terming the conversation an exchange between two criminals, Paricha said he was clueless why his name was dragged. He added, "This conversation shows that criminals are scared of the government's resolve to eliminate crime in the state." SP leader Chandrapal Singh Yadav quickly launched an attack and said names of BJP leaders in the conversation shows they were shielding criminals.
Rising encounters in UP face flak, but Adityanath stays stern
Chandrapal Yadav stressed on Yogi Adityanath's statement in Vidhan Sabha last year, when he asked police to kill all criminals. Over 1,000 encounters were recorded in UP last year, killing more than 50. Despite criticism, Adityanath has said they won't stop. He once said, "...Those who believe in the gun should be given the answer in the language of the gun itself."
