Constable marries gangster, red-faced UP police launches probe
In a bizarre incident, a woman constable in Greater Noida has reportedly married a gangster, much to the embarrassment of Uttar Pradesh police. Reports state that the constable, identified as Payal, married Rahul Thasrana (30), who has been booked for over a dozen cases of loot and murder. However, the police said that reports of Payal and Thasrana's marriage are unverified. Here's more.
Payal met Thasrana at Surajpur court, and then love followed
Reportedly, Payal first met Thasrana while she was posted at the Surajpur court. As Thasrana continued to be in and out of jail, the two kept meeting and eventually fell in love. According to The Times of India, Thasrana married Payal once he got bail in a case of illegal possession of arms. He had surrendered in the case in Agra in July 2017.
Wedding location, date unknown, but photo has gone viral
News of the duo's marriage came to light after Thasrana shared his wedding photos with his friends in Dankaur. The photo, in which the bride and groom are seen sitting in a mandap, went viral on social media. Their wedding location and date remain undisclosed.
Police says woman in photo not confirmed to be Payal
Interestingly, the Gautam Budh Nagar police station—Payal's last known posting—remains unaware of her current posting, TOI reported. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of that police station Vaibhav Krishna tweeted saying that whether the woman in the photo is Payal remains unverified. The SSP also said that Thasrana is not known to be present in the district. An inquiry is underway, the SSP added.

Payal's name not in office records, says SP
Speaking to The Hindu about the incident, Superintendent of Police (SP) (Rural) Kumar Ranvijay Singh said, "We have checked. Her name is not there in our office records. What I can confirm is that Thasrana is a history-sheeter and is out on bail."
Formerly an auto driver, Thasrana turned to crime for fame/money
According to News18, Thasrana was an auto driver in Sikandrabad before joining the Anil Dujana gang in 2008 for fame and money. On May 9, 2014, he was arrested for the murder of a trader named Manmohan Goyal. After his release, in May 2016, the police learned that he was threatening villagers into voting for his mother in village pradhan elections, Singh said.
Payal allegedly visits Thasrana's hometown frequently to politically influence residents
Meanwhile, the village pradhan in Thasrana's hometown, who eventually won against the history-sheeter's mother, claimed that Payal has been visiting the village frequently and influencing residents against him on her husband's behalf, TOI reported. Thasrana's whereabouts, however, are not yet known.
