UP: Class 2 boy 'sacrificed' to bring 'glory to school'
A Class 2 student from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh was allegedly murdered as part of a black magic ritual intended to bring prosperity and fame to a school. The incident took place on September 22 when three individuals strangled the boy in his hostel room. The owner of the school, whose father was reportedly involved in occult practices, is suspected to have orchestrated this "human sacrifice."
Previous attempt and final crime scene
A subsequent medical examination confirmed signs of attempted strangulation on him. The police revealed that an initial attempt at the ritual was planned for September 6 with a different boy. However, this plan was thwarted when the intended victim raised an alarm and escaped. On September 22, the suspects made another attempt, intending to sacrifice their victim near a tube well behind the school but ended up strangling him inside the school when he woke up during transportation.
Evidence of occult practices and alleged motive
The investigation led to the discovery of items typically used in rituals near the tube well, further substantiating claims of occult activities. The police believe that the crime was motivated by superstition, with the accused hoping that a human sacrifice would lead to their school's success. According to reports, the school had been experiencing financial difficulties, and this misguided belief was seen as a solution to ensure its prosperity.
School director attempted to cover up crime
The school, which has around 600 students and houses children from Classes 1 to 5 in its hostel, found the boy unresponsive in his bed on Monday morning. Instead of reporting his death immediately, Dinesh Baghel, director of DL Public School, attempted to cover up the crime by driving around with the boy's body in his car for several hours. The boy's family was initially told that their child was "unwell."
Victim's father recounts tragic phone call
"I received a call from my son's school saying, 'Your child's condition is very serious. Please come immediately.' While I was on the way, they...said, 'The child's condition has worsened," the boy's father said. He added that he found his son dead in their car when he caught up with them in Sadabad. Hathras Superintendent of Police, Nipun Aggarwal, confirmed that five individuals, including Baghel, his father and three teachers, have been arrested in connection with the crime.
