UP- Class X, XII exam results out, pass percentage falls
The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council has declared the results of the 2017 Class X and XII exams. They are available on the official portals: www.upresults.nic.in or www.up.nic.in. This time, the pass percentage for Class XII dropped to 82.62%; last year, it was recorded at 87.99%. For Class X, it went down from 87.66% in 2016 to 81.18% this year.
Both toppers hail from Fatehpur
A total of 26,56,319 students had registered for the Class XII exams this time. Of them, 24,51,474 students appeared. Priyanshi Tiwari of Fatehpur topped with 96.2%. In Class X, 34,04,715 examinees registered for the exams. Tejaswi Devi, also from Fatehpur, was the topper with 95.83%. This time, the entire process was delayed due to assembly elections and strict anti-cheating measures.
Strict anti-cheating measures led to high absence rate?
Till April 11, 1, 91,601 Class 12 candidates had remained absent. Board officials attributed it to the strict measures implemented to prevent mass cheating. Till then, 100 examinees across various centres had been caught copying. Two invigilators had also been suspended.
