BJP minority wing leader critical after shooting in Bareilly
In the first attack on a politician in Bareilly after CM Yogi Adityanath took over, the vice-president of BJP's minority wing was shot at by unidentified men. Raees Ahmed was shot at thrice. He is now critical and undergoing treatment at a private hospital. "Ahmed was apparently returning home on a motorcycle when the attack took place (in Deochara area)," said SP Khyati Garg.
Opposition slams BJP for 'failure' in curbing violence
There is no clarity yet on the motive. Ahmed was rescued and taken to the hospital by Bhamora police station personnel. Condemning the attack, Bareilly BJP MLA Arun Kumar said, "We will demand that the district administration investigate the matter and arrest the attackers." On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party slammed the government, calling it a 'failure' of the BJP in curbing violence.
