The job is similar to a postman's
The job is quite similar to a postman; the messenger just has to deliver police telecom department's message from one office to another. The candidate needs to sign an undertaking saying they can ride a bicycle (that's all). But now that so many overqualified people have applied for the 62 vacancies, the department is pondering over a selection process.
It's good that educated people applied for job, feels official
Ironically, ADG (Telecom) PK Tewari is looking at the silver lining. He said it was good that educated people applied for this position, and that they will get faster promotions as well as prove to be an asset to the department. He said the department is contemplating changing the exam's pattern. The new format may have basic reasoning, general knowledge and Mathematics questions.
Nothing to celebrate here, the situation is poor
This is the first time in 12 years that vacancies for messenger post have been announced. But that's not the only reason behind the surge in applicants, job deficiency is. This government job gives a salary of Rs. 20,000 per month and was bound to attract the jobless.
