Heavy rain, storm in Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP, Manipur; 35 dead
What's the story
Unseasonal rain and dust storm on Tuesday claimed at least 35 lives in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur and several other parts of the country.
PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter to condole the deaths and announced a compensation for the affected people.
"Authorities are monitoring the situation very closely. All possible assistance is being given to those affected," PM Modi tweeted.

Most deaths in North Gujarat: Government official
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) stated in Gujarat, three persons died in Mehsana, two in Banaskantha, and one each in Ahmedabad, Morbi, Sabarkantha, and Patan.
"Most of the deaths were reported in North Gujarat due to lightning strike and falling of trees," said GB Manglpara, Gujarat government's Director (Relief) said.
Five were killed in Rajasthan's Jhalawad and Baran while 10 in Madhya Pradesh.

PM Modi approves Rs. 2 lakh ex-gratia for victims' families
PM Modi's office tweeted, "An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to unseasonal rain & storms in MP, Rajasthan, Manipur & various parts of the country has been approved from the PM's National Relief Fund."
The PMO also wrote, "Rs. 50,000 each for the injured has also been approved."
