'Underwear gang' strikes: Steals gold and bananas in Nashik
A group of thieves, known as the "underwear" or "chaddi baniyan" gang, has caused a stir in Malegaon, Nashik. The gang is notorious for committing crimes while dressed in trunks and vests. In their latest heist late Monday night, they broke into a home and college, stealing approximately 70gm of gold valued at around ₹5 lakh and an unspecified quantity of bananas.
CCTV footage captures 'underwear' gang in action
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, showing four robbers dressed in their signature attire. While one kept watch, the others were seen opening doors. The video has since been circulating online, adding to the alarm among local residents. It remains unclear whether multiple groups are involved in these robberies or if this is a strategy to mislead investigators.
'Gown' gang also on the prowl
The "underwear" gang's strike follows a series of thefts by another group known as the "gown" gang. This group, which dresses in women's garments, primarily targets residential neighborhoods. Last week, they targeted several homes in Malegaon and stole money from a temple donation box. Their activities were also captured on CCTV, showing members dressed in gowns and carrying sharp weapons.
