Hisar: Breaking protocol, two lecturers seen checking answer-sheets in bus
Breaking protocol, two women teachers were found to be checking answer-books aboard a public bus. Their act was recorded and the video went viral. Notably, the two women are lecturers associated with Guru Jambeshwar University (GJU), Hisar, and that they were evaluating answer-sheets of an undergraduate course. As per rules, secrecy is an essential criterion for checking or evaluating answer-sheets.
Varsity VC has ordered a probe headed by senior professor
The video dated June 30, reached the office of Tankeshwar Kumar, the VC, via Yash Paul Singhal, controller of examinations. Kumar said that he has asked for a probe by a committee headed by a senior professor. However, almost defending the duo, he said, the video shows the teachers were checking the answer-sheets quite attentively, but "They should have avoided it at a public place."
'If professors can check papers at residences, why not lecturers?'
Meanwhile, a person in the know said that lack of infrastructure and extreme pressure exerted by varsity management may be the reasons behind such desperate act. But experts termed the incident as serious. "Sealed bundles are sent to the residences of professors and they too follow the principle of secrecy. So why not the lecturers," asked Prof Virender Chauhan of Panchkula-based Haryana Granth Academy.
