Uttar Pradesh: Two sisters found dead in Pilibhit village
Two teenage sisters were found dead in Jasauli village, police said on Tuesday. The girls, aged 17 and 20, had gone out of their lodging facility to attend to nature's call on Monday night but did not return. One of them was located dead in a field while the other was found hanging from a tree on Tuesday morning, Pilibhit SP Jai Prakash said.
A youth has been detained in connection with the case
The family lives in Jasauli village of Bisalpur and the mother works in a brick kiln nearby. Their father is no more. The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination, the SP said, adding that a youth has been detained in connection with the case. Meanwhile, IG Rajesh Kumar Pandey visited the crime spot this morning on directives from the Chief Minister's Office.
The younger daughter's body was found near the roadside
The two girls, Pooja (20) and Anishka (17) went to a nearby farm for defecating around 7 pm. After a long time, when the girls did not return, their mother, Kamla Devi, started searching with the help of other laborers. The body of the younger daughter Anishka was found lying on the roadside on the Pilibhit-Bisalpur road, 100 meters away from the kiln.
Pooja's body was found hanging from a tree
The girls' mother took Anishka's body home. After keeping the body at home, she started searching for the other daughter without informing the police. Pooja's body was then found hanging from a eucalyptus tree in a sugarcane field about 200 meters from the kiln on Tuesday morning. The police was informed. They took down the body from the tree and sent it for post-mortem.
Girls believed to have been strangulated
Dog squad and field unit teams were also informed. Police has found a mobile phone near Pooja's body. The two sisters are believed to have been strangled to death. While any rivalry has been ruled out, the police is investigating if they were raped.
