Retired Colonel faces inquiry after jawans film him having sex
A retired Colonel of the Indian Army faces an inquiry after two soldiers filed a complaint against him for having sex in his office while serving. According to reports, the Colonel had sex with a female employee in his office. The two soldiers claimed to have filmed the Colonel in the act and have approached Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Soldiers filmed Colonel after he allegedly mistreated them
According to IANS, the two soldiers have written to Singh alleging they were victimized for exposing the Colonel's act. The soldiers then filmed the Colonel having sex in his office to teach him a lesson for mistreating them, they said. Sources told the news agency that the Colonel was stationed in Punjab's Abohar at the time of the incident. He has since retired.
Court of Inquiry has been initiated
Following the complaint, a Court of Inquiry (CoI) has been initiated against the retired Colonel under the Army rules and regulations. Notably, the Indian Army has said that during the inquiry, the two soldiers will also be probed to see if they tried to blackmail the Colonel. The soldiers are reportedly serving with the 25 Rajputana Rifles.
Officers can be punished for "unbecoming conduct" under Army Act
Section 45 of the Army Act, 1950 punishes officers for their "Unbecoming Conduct." It states, "Any officer, junior commissioned officer or warrant officer who behaves in a manner unbecoming his position and the character expected of him shall, on conviction by court-martial, if he is an officer, be liable to be cashiered or to suffer such less punishment as is in this Act mentioned."
