J&K: Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists killed in Pulwama encounter
Two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorists, both close aides of outfit commander Riyaz Naikoo, were killed today in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. "Based on a credible input about presence of terrorists at Sharshali in Awantipora area, a cordon and search operation was launched swiftly by security forces in the early hours today," a police official said.

The official said that during the search, security forces were fired upon by terrorists. The fire was retaliated by security forces, leading to a gunfight. "In the ensuing encounter, the terrorists were neutralized and the bodies retrieved from the site of encounter," he added.
Lone was a top commander of Hizbul, history-sheeter since 2015
The slain terrorists have been identified as Adnan Ahmad Lone alias Uqaab and Adil Bilal Bhat alias Umair al Hizbi. As per records, Lone was a self-styled Hizbul commander for Pulwama. "Lone was one of the top commanders of HM and had a long history of terror crime records since 2015. He had escaped from an encounter site in Srinagar earlier," said the official.
Arms, ammunition were also recovered from encounter site
"Bhat was also involved in several terror crimes. Among other terror offenses, he also figured in killing of Head Constable, Ashiq Hussain, at Awantipora last October," the official said. Both terrorists were wanted by the law, he added. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site. Over two dozen terrorists have been killed in encounters over the past eight days.
