Delhi: Two arrested for smuggling gold worth Rs. 55L

Two men have been arrested by the customs officials for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valuing about Rs. 55 lakh at the Delhi airport.
The accused had concealed the gold in a chemical paste form, according to a statement issued today by the customs.
The two accused were intercepted after their arrival from Dubai to Delhi on Friday.

Extraction from a brown color substance recovered 1.7kg gold
A detailed personal search recovered six transparent poly bags containing a brown color substance weighing 2.9kg, concealed inside specially designed pockets in jeans worn by them, the statement said.
"Extraction of the recovered brown color substance resulted in the recovery of 1.7kg gold worth Rs. 54.84 lakh," it said.
Two other men, who had come to receive the accused have also been arrested.
