The bribe-network of Noida cops gets revealed by one tweet
A tweet supposedly posted by a disgruntled police officer exposed a well-oiled machinery of bribes of Noida police. The tweet comprised of WhatsApp messages that hinted an officer was upset with the distribution of bribes. At the end of it, an entire unit of Noida police crime branch was dissolved and Uttar Pradesh police were left red-faced. Here are the details.

The cyber, surveillance, SWAT and investigation cell constitute a crime branch. SWAT team is responsible for conducting raids and encounters. In this case, SWAT had one more task- extracting bribes! The team allegedly collected money from fuel stations, cement manufacturers, hotel owners, developers etc., according to tweet. Two constables were unhappy with their share, and one of them is suspected to have leaked the information.
Twitter handle is one month old, doesn't have a bio
The Twitter handle @Nitin18396487 was created in May 2018. "@Uppolice @pro_ssp @adgzonemeerut @dgpup This is going in your SOG Noida... below are the attached proofs," the now-deleted tweet read. The screenshots detailed cash transactions. For example, it alleged Rs. 90,000 were given to an inspector, and Rs. 40,000 for Holi expenses. The IPS officer, whose name was mentioned in screenshots, denied the allegations.
Not the first time, UP police came under scanner
A few days ago an audio clip went viral of an alleged conversation between a 'reporter' and a smuggler. The former assured him, he will 'fix the issue' with crime branch. The SWAT team also received criticism for alleged extortion from liquor smugglers. Noida police chief Ajay Pal Sharma promised an investigation into the bribery-network.
