Tripura: Minor killed, body dumped near home, locals allege police-inaction
In a distressing incident, an 11-year-old boy's body was discovered from a jungle in Mohanpur town in West Tripura, on Tuesday night. Locals alleged the boy's kidneys were taken away from his body, but post-mortem reports concluded otherwise, revealed Chief Minister Biplab Deb. The boy went missing from his home in Bhumihin Colony and was found about 500 meters away from his house.
Locals alleged police inaction after boy went missing
The deceased has been identified as Purna Biswas. Locals alleged he went missing in the morning, and even after the police was informed about it, they didn't take action. He was a student of Class 4 and his mutilated body was found in a rubber garden. Locals alleged the cut marks on his back proved his kidneys were removed.
Angry locals clashed with police officers, leaving many injured
The situation in locality took a nasty turn after locals clashed with police. In the violence, seven policemen were injured. Two officers including officer-in-charge of the local Sidhai police suffered serious injuries. The police personnel were admitted to hospital. The clash also left few villagers injured. A police official said a post-mortem will give a clearer picture.
Meanwhile, state law minister promises strict action against miscreants
"The state government will provide financial assistance to the deceased's family. Measures have been taken for an impartial probe," said State law minister Ratan Lal Nath. Nath is also the MLA of the constituency and promised strict action against miscreants.
