Tripura will develop 56-inch chest if youth take fitness: Deb
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today said if the youth of the state take Union Sports Minister's fitness challenge, the health of Tripura would improve, too. "Automatically, Tripura will develop 56-inch chest and follow the direction of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' for development," Deb said apparently alluding to PM Modi, who claimed he had 56-inch chest during his 2014 General Election campaigns.
CM Deb accepts Sports Minister's fitness challenge
CM Deb said he himself accepted the fitness challenge of Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and tweeted that he does 20 push-ups. "I could do 20 more. Youth will feel good and fresh if they give 20, 30, 40 push-ups every morning," he said.
Deb requests Rathore for more funds to develop sports infrastructure
Deb said he requested Rathore to provide more funds to develop sports infrastructure in Tripura. Rathore, he said, agreed to develop a sports complex and sought 17 acres which would include all necessary facilities for sports. The CM said his government would work to further develop sports infrastructure in Tripura and called for "Khelo Tripura, Sustho Thako Tripura" (Play Tripura, Stay Healthy Tripura).
Development doesn't mean industries; it also means developing sports: Deb
"Development doesn't mean only industries. It also means developing sports," Deb said at a program where ace gymnast Dipa Karmakar, tennis star Somdev Dev Varman, national women football team goalkeeper Laxmita Reang, and Dronacharya awardee and gymnast Bisweswar Nandi were felicitated. He said sports stars should be involved in annual sports events of schools and other programmers to encourage promising talents across the state.
Tripura Sports Minister wants to hold next National Games
Tripura Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Manoj Kanti Deb said stress would be laid on Kabaddi, Judo, basketball, football and other sports and also expressed hopes of holding the National Games in the state in the future.
