Class 12 board exams postponed in Tripura: Here's why
The Tripura Board of Secondary Education has postponed Class 12 board exams to avoid a clash with the upcoming assembly elections. The date was postponed from 5th March to 8th March. Class 10 board exams will commence as scheduled on 6th March. The election is on 18th February, and results will be declared on 3rd March. The entire process will be over by 5th.
Steps have been taken to avoid an overlap
"As the election process would be over by March 5, the Board has rescheduled exams of class 12 to avoid an overlap...Till now, there is no change in class 10 exam schedule," said TBSE president Mihir Kanti Deb.
Student activists had demanded rescheduling of exams
Two days ago, group of student activists had demanded that the Tripura Board of Secondary Education reschedule the exams due to the elections. This year, around 55,000 candidates are eligible for the Class 10 board exams, while nearly 27,000 candidates are eligible for the Class 12 board exams.
Students are happy with the TBSE's decision
"Students would face vehicle problem on the day. So, to avoid this problem, we have demanded to reschedule the board exams. We are happy with the latest decision of the TBSE ," said youth leader Vikki Prasad.
